Dear Fellow Conservative Republican,
Thank you for your support which enabled Conservative Republicans of Texas (CRT) and Conservative Republicans of Harris County (CRHC) to achieve very successful results in the 2016 Republican Primary and Run-Off Elections.
CRT and CRHC raised a total of $759,402 and spent $736,679 to support conservative candidates and officeholders during the Republican Primary and Run-Off Elections.
CRT and CRHC actively campaigned in a total of 77 Primary and Run-Off races across Texas, utilizing direct mail, email, automated calls and video endorsements. The election results are listed below. The names of the candidates CRT endorsed are highlighted in yellow.
Republican Primary Elections – Tuesday, March 1, 2016
Of the 65 Primary contested Primary and Run-Off races, 39 of our endorsed candidates. We were victorious in the 5 most important run-off races. Two (2) of Speaker Joe Straus’ lieutenants, who were both committee chairmen in the Texas House, were defeated. Briscoe Cain defeated 14 year incumbent RINO Wayne Smith in HD 128 in Harris County by 23 votes. Kyle Biedermann soundly defeated 8 year incumbent RINO Doug Miller in HD 73 in the New Braunfels area. These were huge upsets. Conservative Republican Cole Hefner was elected to the open seat, HD 5, previously held by Rep. Bryan Hughes.
Conservative Rep. Bryan Hughes, who challenged Straus’ leadership in the House, won overwhelming in the race for the open seat in SD 1, formerly held by Sen. Kevin Eltife from Tyler, who retired. Eltife was a RINO, so Hughes’ victory is a big win for Conservative Republicans. Dawn Buckingham, M.D., defeated RINO Rep. Susan King from Abilene in the open seat for SD 24 which was vacated by retiring Sen. Troy Fraser. King was also a Straus lieutenant who would have been a thorn in Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s side had she won, so Buckingham’s victory is another big win for Conservative Republicans. We are proud to have played an active role in achieving these victories.
The credit for these victories goes to you for your support of CRT and CRHC, allowing us to support conservative candidates who advocate for conservative Christian social values, limited state government and the free enterprise system.
These were hard fought races with some being decided by narrow margins. CRT endorsed candidates who ran against powerful RINO incumbents who were lieutenants for Speaker Straus like Reps. Byron Cook, Charlie Geren, Doug Miller, Wayne Smith, and Debbie Riddle. We even actively supported Jeff Judson in his race against Speaker Straus. We defeated Miller, Smith and Riddle. Conservative Republicans will continue to oppose the RINOs who partner with the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual Democrats to block social and fiscal conservative legislation.
CRT and CRHC will be supporting all Republicans in the general election in November and will continue to promote pro-life, pro-family and free enterprise legislation during the 2017 Legislative Session, so that our children and grandchildren can live safe and prosperous lives in Texas.
Please support our continuing efforts to elect conservative Republicans and promote conservative legislation in the 2017 Legislative Session by investing $10, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000 or more now at http://www.crtpac.com/donate/.
Thanking you for standing for conservative values, I remain, as always, Sincerely yours for Constitutional liberty and the Biblical principles upon which they are based,
Steven F. Hotze, M.D.
